Writer: Lou @ Feathered PathsLou @ Feathered Paths

Recognise the amazing value and worth that you possess, because trust me - the world needs the wonderfulness of you!

The what -

This week, take some time to reflect and find something you genuinely like about yourself. It could be a physical feature, a personality trait, or even a skill you possess. Celebrate the uniqueness and awesomeness that is you. Embrace self-love and appreciation for who you are.

The why -

In a world that bombards us with images of perfection and constantly tells us to strive for more, it's easy to overlook the amazing qualities that already exist within ourselves. Taking a moment to acknowledge and appreciate something you like about yourself can boost your self-esteem, increase your confidence, and overall improve your well-being.

We often focus on our flaws or the things we wish we could change about ourselves, but embracing self-love means accepting and celebrating all aspects of who we are. By finding something you like about yourself, you remind yourself of your worth and value as an individual.

A little self love can go a long way

It's important to remember that self-love isn't about being arrogant or conceited, it's about recognising your own worth and the unique qualities that make you, well, you. By finding something you like about yourself, you can start to cultivate a positive relationship with yourself and develop a greater sense of self-compassion.

A little self-love goes a long way in improving your overall well-being. When you appreciate and value yourself, you are more likely to make choices that benefit your mental and emotional health. So take the time this week to discover something you like about yourself and bask in the warm glow of self-appreciation.

If your current mindset isn't exactly 'pro you' then all the more reason to do this. If you can think of one thing, absolutely try to think of another and another. You can build this as a list in your mind and reflect on that list when you need a confidence boost.

But I feel 'meh' and I don't know where to start!

Ok so I appreciate it feels a little weird to just causally sit there and try and think of things you like about yourself so if the idea of doing this feels a bit silly, try using these techniques;

Reflect on your accomplishments - Think about a time when you achieved something you're proud of. It could be a work-related success, a personal goal you accomplished, or even a small victory like trying a new activity. Recognise the effort and dedication it took to achieve that success and appreciate yourself for it.

Embrace your quirks - We all have unique quirks and traits that make us who we are. Maybe you have a great sense of humour, a talent for storytelling, or a knack for DIY projects. Embrace these quirks and see them as the special qualities that set you apart from others.

Focus on your strengths - Take a moment to identify your strengths and skills. Are you a great listener, a talented artist, or a skilled problem-solver? Recognise these strengths and appreciate the value they bring to your life and the lives of those around you.

Practice self-care - Taking care of yourself is an important part of self-love. Make time for activities that bring you joy, whether it's reading a book, taking a bath, or going for a walk in nature. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion, and remember to prioritise your own well-being.

Surround yourself with positivity - Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Seek out friends and family members who appreciate and celebrate your unique qualities. Avoid negative self-talk and focus on building a positive mindset that reinforces your self-worth. If you are really stuck, ask someone you trust to tell you what things they like about you.

Recognise the amazing value and worth that you possess

But remember, finding something you like about yourself is not about seeking validation from others or comparing yourself to unrealistic standards. It's about recognising the amazing value and worth that you possess as an individual. This is true for everyone, I promise. We are all a little different and amazing in our own ways. So take the time this week to discover and celebrate something you like about yourself, and watch as your self-love and confidence soar.

The Who -

This feather is inspired by a friend who recently shared with me how she struggled with self-doubt and negative self-talk for years. As her friend I know that she is an absolutely fabulous human being with tons of wonderfulness to offer the world. But for a long time she really struggled to see this in herself. Now, through practising self-love and gratitude, she has been able to find something she likes about herself every day. Her journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance serves as a reminder that we all have unique qualities and strengths that deserve to be celebrated.

Remember, you are worthy, you are valued, and you are enough. Find something you like about yourself and let that light shine brightly within you.
